Who am I?

My name is Mette. I am a jeweller and the owner of Mette Jewellery. I was born in Denmark and moved to Australia in 1998. I now have my own studio in Sydney where I love to spend time creating my jewellery pieces.

I have trained under Australian gold and silversmith Valerie Aked prior to completing my degree in Jewellery Manufacturing at Design Centre Enmore.
I have facilitated jewellery workshops at various studios as well as Design Centre Enmore. I have participated in numerous exhibitions and have sold my work in Europe, America and Australia.

My jewellery

My pieces are influenced by the elegant simplicity of Danish design. However I am at the same time attracted to creation of drama in my pieces making them stand out in the crowd.

I see my jewellery making as a journey where I have the opportunity to constantly challenge myself and explore the many facets of jewellery design and techniques in the aim of perfection and unique creation.

I enjoy the design process, starting with an idea that evolves as the work progresses. Majority of the time the design changes details several times to enhance the final result. I love the freedom of not being bound by limitations in the process but having the opportunity to explore where the piece is going to take me.
